Call for Social Media Interns
Council of Commissions
International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES)
December 2023 - December 2024

The International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) is the largest global network of anthropologists, boasting members from over 50 countries. It is a branch of the World Anthropology Union (WAU) and provides a platform for the discussion and dissemination of cutting-edge research. Our organization is comprised of Scientific Commissions, each focusing on distinct specialties in Anthropology. The list the Commissions can be accessed at: https://www.waunet.org/iuaes/comm/list.phtml)

Anthropologists interested in a specific field of research or practice can join the relevant scientific Commissions. These Commissions promote networking among their members, engaging them in joint activities, such as seminars, webinars, and panels for international IUAES/WAU conferences. Each Commission disseminates their activities, as well as publications of their members and calls for collaborations, through their social media, mostly X and Facebook.

Internship for Commission Social Media Management

The IUAES Scientific Commissions are seeking highly motivated Masters or PhD students in Anthropology or related disciplines, with proficient social media management skills. Candidates should be fluent in oral and written English (proficiency in an additional language is an advantage).
Selected interns will undergo a thorough interview process and receive comprehensive training and supervision in social media management following IUAES guidelines. They will work closely with the Chair or Co-Chair of their respective Commissions, who will serve as mentors and involve them in professional and scientific activities. This internship offers a unique opportunity for emerging scholars to expand their academic horizons and is conducted on a voluntary basis.

At the end of your internship, we will offer you:
• A certificate of your training and your time as interns (practicum)
• A waiver for online registration for the South Africa WAU Congress 2024 (including IUAES membership)

The call for interns will be open until January 31, 2024. The training of selected candidates will take place in February 2024.
We encourage passionate students to seize this opportunity for professional growth and valuable networking within the global anthropological community.
